The first interface I designed from the ground up was the port Ultralingua’s dictionary software over to Palm/HP’s WebOS mobile platform. The key was to keep branded look established in the iOS apps while translating it over to the new OS, making it feel like a native application, and complying with WebOS’s platform standards.
The biggest challenge was adapting from the original iOS’s use of back buttons and header based navigation to the card based paradigm of WebOS. Further complicating matters was that we were developing on pre-release hardware and there was no existing user base for the platform.
